The Marlboro Township Police Motorcycle Unit was founded in 2010. Lt. Paul Reed (Ret.) helped start the unit after many years of using his personal police motorcycle to work special events like the Police Unity Tour and Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run. The training consists of a two week motor skills course that includes advanced motor handling and tactics.

The first motorcycle for the unit is a 2010 Harley Davidson Electra Glide with Police package. The motor is equipped with radios, lights, camera, radar and first aid kit.

The motor officer will perform daily patrol work and will be able to access areas of the township that are not accessible to full size patrol vehicles, such as the Henry Hudson Trail. The motor officer will also be used for special assignments to include special events, parades, funeral escorts and traffic safety.
